Hi…we are trying to map out a train trip from Cincinnati ohio going to as close as possible to Fort Benning Georgia…are there any trains that are passing around there ??
I’m trying to map out a train trip from New York (Union Station) to as close to Columbus Ohio I ca
Closest stations to Columbus are more than 100 miles in Cincinnati, South Portsmouth, Cleveland, Toledo or Pittsburgh. The latter has connecting Greyhound bus service using through ticketing with Amtrak, and the Greyhound station in Pittsburgh is across Liberty Street from the Amtrak station.
The nearest Amtrak station to Fort Benning is Atlanta, 100 miles away as the crow flies. There is no Greyhound bus service to Ft. Benning either, although it does go to Columbus, GA which is 7-10 miles away from the various entrances to the fort. That would require a taxi or rental car.
We are trying to take the train from louisiana to cincinnati ohio. Are there any trains that get us close to there????
You would take Amtrak’s City of New Orleans route (train 58) to Chicago and then transfer to Amtrak’s Cardinal from Chicago to Cincinnati (train 50). The Cardinal travels only three days a week so you may have to adjust your day of travel accordingly. In the reverse direction you would take trains 51 and 59.
